Country House Wedding in Bucine, Tuscany
Wedding date 26/06/2022
First meeting
I first met Sophie and Nathan on a very informal zoom call a few days after their enquiry through my website and we got on like a house on fire.
They both knew from the outset they wanted to get married in Tuscany.
Venue Choice
They considered many options I sent them for their wedding venue in Tuscany and finally settled on cornacchi.com A gorgeous, private family run country house located in the Province of Arezzo, within a picture perfect landscape of golden, rolling hills and winding country roads lined with cypress trees.
The warm and friendly atmosphere created by the owners and all the staff were apparent to Sophie and Nathan from the start.
This option gave them the flexibility of self contained accommodation but also the facilities of a good hotel as it has its own onsite restaurant, beautiful gardens, a plunge pool and a swimming pool.
Another of the reasons they chose this venue is because it grows its own vegetables and spices totally organically. They also make their own wine and extra virgin olive oil and all the other ingredients used in their kitchens are seasonal and produced locally.
They very happily booked and then invited 40 of their friends and family to stay onsite.
The other guests stayed locally in various hotels and B&B’s but we arranged transport for them to attend every celebration at the venue so they could all relax and enjoy themselves.
Three Days Of Celebrations
Their guests had come from far and wide to celebrate the wedding of Sophie and Nathan and some had not seen each other for a few years so they partied for 3 days, starting with a very informal pizza party on welcome night, then the wedding day celebrations and finishing off with a relaxed poolside BBQ for the recovery day!
Pizza Party
This we set up in the courtyard of one of the charming, rustic buildings available if ever a Plan B is needed!!
It was a great night full of laughter and reacquainting with many family members and friends and the beer, Prosecco and Spritz flowed freely.
The pizza was prepared and made for as long as the guests wanted it and once they thought that they couldn’t eat anymore, the Nutella pizza was introduced!!
Wedding Day
The day dawned on what was going to be one of the hottest days Tuscany had seen that Summer! And after a lay in and a leisurely breakfast, Adrienne and her team from adrienneaereboe.com arrived and the bridal party preparations began.
The guys spent the majority of the morning in the pool trying to keep cool right up until the last minute and the bride and her maids kept themselves cool in their rooms while they began their preparation with the hair and make up professionals.
The venue was buzzing with preparations and suppliers setting up the ceremony area and the after ceremony drinks location.
The kitchen was busy preparing the canapés for apertivo and the banquet that was to be served for dinner and the aroma was heavenly.
The singer was sound checking with the DJ, the celebrant was looking over her words, the photographers and videographers were busy catching unexpected moments and the florist was working his magic.
Wedding ceremony
And then at exactly 3.50 in the afternoon, the guests were seated, the groom and his men were waiting and an excited anticipation had filled the air. Daisy serenaded the guests while they waited for the bridal party
As the clock reached 4pm a hush descended over the gardens and everybody stood up and turned as Diasy began to sing the bridal party entrance song.
It was a beautiful heartfelt ceremony with much laughter and many tears and finally after what had seemed like forever after the many postponements due to covid, Sophie and Nathan said I do.
Wedding Aperitivo
Once the ceremony was over, the guests were invited to the poolside gardens for drinks and canapés where they could relax, enjoy some delicious food and some even decided to dip their feet in the plunge pool to try and keep cool!
Wedding Banquet and After Party
Sophie and Nathan had requested an outdoor banquet and this was set up in simple, elegant style to blend in with the gardens and to make the most of the evening sunshine.
The guests were served a sumptuous, 3 course Italian dinner interspersed with speeches and accompanied with free flowing wine.
This was followed by a traditional Italian wedding cake, cut by the bride and groom to many cheers.
Then the guests were invited to the after party taking place in a gorgeous barn like structure away from the main accommodation.
An open bar was on offer and the entertainment was raring to go.
The party went on until the early hours when the transport arrived to take the reluctant to leave guests back to their accommodation.
